Sometimes God Will Not Explain. He will Simply Sustain.

There are seasons in life when I wish God would simply tell me what He is doing.

Perhaps you have been there too.

You pray. You wait. You trust. You cry. You ask questions that seem to echo into silence. You replay conversations, search for meaning, and wonder whether you somehow missed God’s voice along the way.

We are wired to seek understanding. We want to know why the promotion did not come, why the relationship ended, why the diagnosis happened, why the opportunity disappeared, or why the answer to our prayers seems delayed.

The difficult truth is that God does not always explain.

Sometimes He simply sustains.

That realization has changed the way I view life’s uncertainties.

We Want Answers. God Offers Himself.

If I am honest, I have spent many prayers asking God to explain His decisions.

“Lord, why this?”

“Why now?”

“Why me?”

Yet throughout Scripture, God rarely answered every question His people asked. Instead, He continually reminded them of who He was.

When Moses faced an impossible assignment, God did not give him every detail about the journey. He promised His presence.

When Joshua prepared to lead Israel, God did not provide a map of every battle. He promised, “I will be with thee.”

When Paul pleaded for his thorn to be removed, God did not remove the struggle. He reminded Paul that His grace was sufficient.

God’s greatest gift has never been complete explanations.

His greatest gift has always been His presence.

Faith Does Not Require Full Understanding

One of the greatest misconceptions about faith is believing that we must understand before we trust.

Real faith often looks exactly the opposite.

Faith says, “I do not understand this season, but I know the One who is leading me through it.”

That kind of trust is not passive.

It is active.

It chooses obedience over certainty.

It chooses worship over worry.

It chooses peace over panic.

Anyone can trust when life makes sense.

Faith is revealed when life does not.

Sustained by Grace

Looking back over my own life, I realize there were countless moments when God never explained what He was doing.

He simply carried me.

There were opportunities I desperately wanted that never materialized.

There were disappointments that seemed impossible to understand.

There were seasons that felt painfully slow.

At the time, I wanted explanations.

Now I see evidence of His protection.

Sometimes the closed door was actually mercy.

Sometimes the delay was preparation.

Sometimes the waiting was producing a version of me that success alone never could.

God was doing a deeper work than I could recognize in the moment.

The Waiting Is Never Wasted

Waiting often feels like inactivity.

Spiritually, it is often where God accomplishes His greatest work.

Waiting develops patience.

Waiting builds endurance.

Waiting strengthens character.

Waiting teaches dependence.

Waiting shifts our confidence from our own plans to God’s perfect timing.

We often measure progress by movement.

God often measures progress by transformation.

Perhaps He is not just preparing your next opportunity.

Perhaps He is preparing you.

His Silence Is Not His Absence

One of the enemy’s greatest lies is convincing us that silence means abandonment.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Just because God seems quiet does not mean He has stepped away.

There are moments when a teacher remains silent during the test.

The silence does not indicate absence.

It indicates confidence that the student has learned enough to keep going.

God knows exactly where you are.

He has not forgotten your prayers.

He has not overlooked your tears.

He has not abandoned your purpose.

Even when you cannot trace His hand, you can trust His heart.

My Prayer for You

If you are walking through a season filled with unanswered questions, I pray that you stop measuring God’s faithfulness by the number of explanations He provides.

Instead, measure it by the peace He continues to give you.

Measure it by the strength you somehow still have.

Measure it by the doors He quietly closes for your protection.

Measure it by the grace that continues to carry you every single day.

One day you will look back and realize that what felt like God’s silence was actually His sustaining power.

He never stopped working.

He never stopped loving you.

He never stopped holding you.

He simply did not need to explain what He already had under control.
